Navigating Remote Work: My Internship Journey as a Customer Support Executive at Abhyaz
Introduction
When I applied for the Customer Support Executive internship at Abhyaz, I was looking for an opportunity to gain real-world experience in communication, client interaction, and remote teamwork. What I found was much more than a learning opportunity; it was a journey of professional growth and personal discovery.
Hands-on Experience with Zoho SalesIQ
My primary role involved interacting with users via Zoho SalesIQ, a live chat tool embedded on the Abhyaz website. I was tasked with addressing inquiries ranging from application steps to technical issues and general onboarding support. Responding to these questions in real-time helped me develop essential skills like clarity in communication, empathy, and problem-solving.
Invaluable Support at Abhyaz
What truly stood out to me was the mentorship and support I received throughout. My mentor was always available and incredibly encouraging. Anytime I encountered something I didn’t understand, I felt comfortable asking questions, and the responses were always helpful and patient. In a remote setup, that kind of guidance makes a big difference. I also had the chance to consult with the HR team when I faced minor issues with system access or scheduling, and they were equally supportive and responsive.
Fully Remote Opportunity
Another key benefit of this internship was its online structure. Being fully remote meant that I could work from the comfort of my home in Uganda, which saved me both time and resources. The flexibility in working hours, was amazing as I was able to enroll for the part-time slot, which allowed me to balance the internship with other responsibilities and health considerations without feeling overwhelmed.
In addition to learning technical and communication tools, I also became more confident in managing my own workflow and staying accountable in a virtual work environment. These are skills I’ll carry forward as I move into future roles.
